Marketing Blogs
When we talk to people about having a marketing blog their first thought seems to be of a blog where every post promotes their product or service.
Then they picture a blog with ads all over it for their products and any products they can earn a commission on.
Next they picture the hyped-up, trumped up marketing language many marketers use to pressure people.
All of this is nowhere close to what we mean when we talk about a marketing blog. We call it a marketing blog because your intention is to use the blog to market your business.
But how you go about doing that with a blog has nothing to do with making every post about you, your products, your service… it has nothing to do with filling up your blog with ads… and while it does involve understanding the psychology of marketing, that doesn’t mean using a bunch of hype.
To have a blog that is successful in marketing your products and services you need two things (this is true for a website or a blog if you want it to generate sales and leads for your business):
#1 Traffic – You need to have people visit your blog.
#2 Conversion – You need to be able to get people to take an action once they’ve arrived on your blog.
Most sites that talk about blogging for your business seem to only focus on building traffic to your blog. The other item they discuss somewhat is what to talk about on your blog.
And sure, it’s important to get people to your blog. And it’s important to write content that will keep them interested in your blog.
But unless you’re blogging solely for your own pleasure (and that’s okay if that’s what you want to do)… then somewhere, some how, someone should be talking about conversion – how to turn a blog visitor into a lead or sale.
And that’s what’s different here at Marketing Blogs.
Sure, we’ll be talking about traffic and getting visitors to your blog. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a part of that. But we’ll also be discussing what makes your blog convert – what turns a visitor into a sale or lead for your business.
