WordPress is a blog platform. It is simply the software that runs the blog. For example – Microsoft Word, Notepad, WordPad and WordPerfect are all word processing software. They allow you to write and edit text on your computer but each one is different. WordPress is a software program that allows you to create and manage your blog. However, WordPress runs on a hosting account instead of on your computer. So instead of opening a program on your computer, you go online and login to access the software.
Why is WordPress such a great blog platform?
WordPress is very easy to use; even for non-technical people. But it’s still very powerful so it has a lot of features. WordPress is very popular and very well supported. This means there are lots of add-ons you can get to add more features to your blog. Some of these features improve how you manage your blog and some improve the look and experience your blog visitor has.
